WE ARE ALL DRIVEN by a deeper inner restlessness. We may feel this restlessness as a sense that something is missing in us all, although it is usually difficult to define exactly what it is. We have all sorts of notions about what we think we need or want – a better relationship, a better job, a better physique, a better car and on and on. We believe that if we acquire that perfect relationship or job or new “toy,” the restlessness will go away and we will feel satisfied and complete. But experience teaches us that the new car makes us feel better for only a short time. The new relationship may be wonderful, but it never quite fulfils us in the way we thought it would. So what are really looking for?”
The Wisdom of the Enneagram, Ron Richard Riso and Russ Hudson
If we all look within ourselves we will see that we are all striving to move forward in some way or another. For some it is material possessions that will personify how they feel in the world and how the world is to see them. What if you could achieve those goals by a simple technique?
How many of us can say that we really know ourselves fully?
How well do you really know yourself? Have you looked at seeking those answer’s for yourself? Or you are you happy with living with half a lie of a life. Now, is that time to openly look at how you are going to strive forward.
• What is striving forward to you?
• Are you seeking happiness?
• Is it financial gain?
• Success in the goals we set ourselves?
• A better partner / spouse or friend/parent?
• To be able to say no or gain confidence in ourselves?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we were able to fully understand our personality characteristics to be able to live and expand on the best attributes that we have been born with. A lot of us forget that we should look within ourselves and look into our core, as when we look into our heart, our soul we are truly looking straight at ourselves. The Wisdom of The Enneagram will allow you to view the beautiful characteristics we hold in our personality. Then from there you will be able to increase your presence from learning more about the key characteristics that make you work.
What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a geometric figure that maps out the nine fundamental personality types of human nature and their complex interrelationships. The heart of the of the Enneagram is the universal insight that human beings are spiritual presences incarnated in the material world and yet mysteriously embodying the life and Spirit as the Creator. Hidden under every individual that a light shines from the Divine and that if we look truly within ourselves that Divine can be found.
“There’s a part of every living thing that wants to become itself, the tadpole into the frog, the chrysalis into the butterfly, a damaged human being into a whole one. That is spirituality.”
We have one lifetime to make ourselves happy. To seek inner peace and to truly find great spirituality with ourselves and the loved ones around us. I would say we are evolving and over time we are maturing and there is not one moment in time that we have truly matured. As, this is a forever process. For some, there is a level of understanding of what they want and where they want to head; but this does not mean that they have truly gained a whole self in all areas of their lives.
“What can we gain by sailing to the moon If we are not able to cross the abyss that us from ourselves!”
It is vital that when you are trying to achieve your goals that you are truly understanding yourself fully to know how to move forward. The self exploration of the self will take time and for you to be fully comfortable with how you feel and what you want is the first of many in striving forward. Sometimes to strive forward you require to have lost to be able to fully understand what winning or achieving that goals looks like. Winning is meaningless if you have not worked hard for it and you not sailed the sea where the tides have been crashing against you and you have felt up against the odds. The realisation of the whole self comes from self realisation and willing to love the strengths and weaknesses that you hold as an individual.
“Spiritual development is a long and arduous journey, an adventure through strange lands full of surprises, joy, beauty, difficulties and even dangers.”
We are all driven by fear. We suppress emotions because we are afraid of what we can lose. On many occasions, we are not addressing or tackling the real needs that we are feeling in being able to fully move forward. Our identity is growing and evolving over time as we learn new experiences and we look at how we wish to develop ourselves via openly being conscious. We are consciously thinking about all of those times were have been informed that we cannot make mistakes or often we informed that we should suppress emotions.
I want to bring to light what happens when you are unable to understand those basic fears and learn from those restrictions in place. Then we start to discuss to patterns of behaviour that are broken or what I prefer to call the fragmented self. The fragmented self are people who have experienced extreme pain, physical or mental harm and they are unable to understand their value of themselves due to a non-standard upbringing. Those individuals will find it harder to distinguish their self and their core because it has never been balanced. There are gaps in the development that has left the self being broken and unbalanced; only if they are an extreme version of being fragmented.
We all have basic needs that create our personality, which will then create a whole self. Wholeness of a person will derive from intregrity, love, how we are valued and many other elements. Our personality is protecting us from the world and allowing us to continue to learn and develop when we can. This is where you are required to be true to yourself, authenticity can be reached and a greater joy will be found and this is where the power to make the changes will come.
To create the awareness we are required to recognise. This can be an intellectual process of being able to peel away the layers that we have wrapped ourselves in. We need to allow the barriers to come down and be willing to experience and feel. Sometimes or often we might be juxtaposition with ourselves but our heart will always inform us of the route that we should take. It is important to remember it is YOU and YOUR Personality that will either make you or break you.
Are you Awake? Or are you Sleep Walking through life?
Our consciousness can only be defined by the state of awareness and our state of our mind.
IF you are are not aware then how can you feel? Awareness comes from an acute understanding of the inner speech / dialogue we have with ourselves and the feelings that we feel. Often, we can be on auto pilot and this can mean we are missing out on opportunities or we are not able to gain greater understanding of what is going on around us. It is important to be able fully understand the inner state and to be able to then identify with the inner self.
“Look into the depths of your own soul and learn to know yourself, then you will understand why this illness was bound to come upon you and perhaps you will thenceforth avoid falling ill.”
